The Rainbow Festival Or The festival of Colours
Yes, The famous Indian festival Holi... is the festival of Colours... I'd like to call it the 'Rainbow festival'
Just like the many festivals celebrated in India, Holi too has cultural, mythological as well as a spiritual Significance. White is considered as the symbol of purity. THE WHITE LIGHT BREAKS UP INTO A SPECTRUM OF WAVELENGTHS OR RATHER PUT IT THIS WAY... IT IS A COMBINATION OF MANY VARIED COLOURS EACH WITH ITS OWN WAVELENGTH AND FREQUENCY..... JUST LIKE THE HUMAN BEINGS, THEIR EMOTIONS, THEIR LIFE SITUATIONS AND RELATIONS.
Holi is yet another indian festival of harvest and colours. The harvesting in different regions of india occurs at different time phases of year..due to the regionally differing indian climate. Holi marks the end of winter almost completely in North India. Indians joyfully celebrate with colours such that the day appears to be painted with a rainbow of colours.
Why play with colours? .... The play with colours is a mere significance that has been long lost... the colours signify the different phases and emotions of life and man. Playing and enjoying the colours on Holi signifies that one must accept, balance and enjoy all the colours of life equally... It has a more spiritual significance which is- balance of life is more important than enjoying the more merrier phases or colours of life. Life is a bundle, a package and a colourful rainbow. Each colour gives significance to the other and each shade does the same, without either, neither of the various colours have any existence or meaning. It symbolises that the one who joyfully accepts and embraces the various moments of life without resisting, is the one who truly lives or exists. it is the victory of happiness and bliss over the evils of sorrow and sadness.
In the olden times more natural colours were used but with advancing age of chemicals and techology man has tended more for artificial means of making not just colours but many more things.
Colours, so many with shades so varied,
To chose just one is a difficult task indeed!
To Colour any of your day,
Be it ordinary or a special day.
I would say,
Chose not just one
But all the shades that glitter under the sun.
Though some may be dark and others sober,
Though each one is different from the other...
yet the balance all together.
Just like a Beautiful RAINBOW
