Today I want to share my poem written about 22 years ago... somehow never put it up in the blog earlier.
I looked into the mirror and smiled at it,
I could see a world with many bright things in it.
The people were so simple and very neat'
All spoke politely and were so sweet.
The evergreen trees were so high,
To reach the clear, bright sky.
Indeed the azure was calm
And the vast oceans beneath were warm.
The leaves shone under the sunlight
And the blossoms added to their delight.
It was a world so pretty and bright,
Free from all malice and fight.
A bliss none could deny.
I again looked into the mirror and frowned at it.
I could now see a whole new world in it.
The people looked so different.
Their attitude was so distant.
Their sweetness had faded.
An emptiness had evaded.
Each one looked down upon the other
With ego and dis-honor
Each one complained of the world's ill-manner.
Yet forgot they made the world and its flavor.
Ah! What a pity,
The world was neither bright nor pretty.
It was a world full of lust, pride and jealousy.
A tear rolled down my from my eye.
Now a vague image started to appear
In the same mirror
It was me, only me
I could now clearly see
There was no world,
There were no people
It was only my smile,
It was only my frown,
That brightened my world and also brought it down.
I laughed at myself
As it was only me in the mirror all the while.
